Reeling in Success: Celebrating Two Whiskey Rackhouses

On September 20th at the break of dawn, Upward Architecture joined project partners for a fishing trip in Puget Sound near Deception Pass—a fitting way to celebrate the completion of the first two whiskey rackhouses in Skagit Valley for Westland Distillery. Hosted by TRICO Construction, the day gave us a chance to pause, reflect, and enjoy the payoff of months of collaboration.

Departing from Bayside Marina in Anacortes aboard Highliner Charters, participants spent the day fishing for salmon near Deception Pass. As the day unfolded, we admired the sweeping views of Puget Sound and the Strait of Jaun de Fuca, and appreciated the opportunity to connect outside of meetings and job sites.

Representing Upward was Mark Ward, joined by Nate Wolf and Savannah Phillips of TRICO Construction, Alan Jacobson of Jacobson Consulting Engineers, and Scott Sell of Westland Distillery. Together, we celebrated not just a construction milestone, but the relationships that made it possible and the shared commitment to craftsmanship and quality that defined the project.
