Second Annual Pumpkin Carving

October 2024

Pumpkins, Pups, and Plenty of Laughs

On October 25th 2024, the Upward Architecture team gathered for our Second Annual Pumpkin Carving—an afternoon full of laughter and just the right amount of pumpkin guts. Hosted at our downtown Seattle office, this event has quickly become a fall tradition for our team, their families, and friends. As we carved, a classic horror movie played in the background (because what’s pumpkin carving without 10 gallons of fake blood?). Each jack-o-lantern found its way into our storefront window, glowing proudly for passersby and delighting the children from KidsCentre as they trick-or-treated through the neighborhood.

This year’s caring crew included Annalisa Castelli and her husband Kevin, Sallye Lindsay, Mark and Erin Ward, and new team member Saloni Gupta—who bravely tackled her first-ever jack-o-lantern (and nailed it).

Moments like these remind us why we started the event last year in the first place: to take a break from deadlines, share a laugh, and enjoy the creative process together. Sometimes it’s about pausing to enjoy time together, making a little mess, and letting the season inspire us in new ways. Here’s to keeping the tradition alive—and to even more gourds next year.
