Located in the heart of Seattle’s Upper Queen Anne neighborhood, the Nicon McGraw Building is a mid-century commercial property originally constructed in the 1950s. By 2017, the building had undergone numerous small repairs and piecemeal updates, leaving its façade dated and inconsistent. Members of our team led a comprehensive exterior renovation to refresh the building’s presence along West McGraw Street.
The project scope included removing outdated mansard awnings, increasing the height of the ground-floor storefronts to improve visibility for retail tenants, and establishing a unified signage strategy. New siding and detailing were selected to modernize the façade while complementing the surrounding neighborhood character.
At 8,000 square feet, the two-story building now supports three ground-floor commercial tenants with renewed street identity and stronger pedestrian connections, ensuring the building remains a vibrant contributor to Upper Queen Anne’s retail core. Work completed while a founding principal at Urbanadd.
