Upward Architecture collaborated with MVMT MTHD founders Rebekah Marion and Josh Richardson to bring one of the first combination Lagree Method and HIIT studios to Seattle. Located in the Lower Queen Anne neighborhood—the project translates the Lagree Method’s distinctive blend of strength, endurance, and control into a spatial experience that is equal parts performance-driven and welcoming.

The program is organized into a sequence of distinct zones tailored to different aspects of training. The Lagree room is defined by mirrored walls and a custom acoustic ceiling that creates both rhythm and warmth, while providing a light-filled atmosphere for group classes. Adjacent to this, a sleek and dimly lit HIIT studio uses darker finishes and sculptural lighting to foster focus and intensity. The reception and lounge area balances the high-energy studios with a calming palette of natural wood, stone, and plantings, offering clients a moment of transition between daily life and workout mode. Locker and amenity spaces complete the program, ensuring comfort and ease throughout the visit.

Materiality plays a key role in unifying the experience. Light-toned woods, polished concrete floors, and neutral wall finishes anchor the public spaces, while the training areas employ strategic lighting and darker contrasts to shape mood and energy. Exposed ductwork and modern fixtures lend an industrial edge that connects the studio to its urban surroundings, while still keeping the interiors approachable and refined.

MVMT MTHD establishes a new standard for boutique fitness design in the city. By blending careful attention to flow, atmosphere, and material detail, the space supports not only high-performance training but also a sense of community—inviting clients to return, recharge, and push their limits.

We quickly realized that Mark and Annalisa would deliver a lot more value than we thought. First, they guided us through design sessions to get a sense of our aesthetic. They absolutely nailed a high design buildout that is simply stunning in person. They also handled all of the permitting with the City of Seattle (which is no small task).

But I have to say beyond delivering above our expectations, they were amazing partners and advocates throughout the process. They are highly capable and genuinely great people to work with. I can't recommend working with them enough!
