This renovation and addition reimagined a classic Magnolia bungalow, blending updated functionality with respect for its 1940s character. A new entry porch creates a more welcoming presence from the street, while refreshed interiors provide the family with spaces that feel both contemporary and timeless.
At the heart of the project, the kitchen was completely reconfigured with custom cabinetry, quartz countertops, and modern appliances, its layout designed to highlight framed views of downtown Seattle. The renovation also introduced a stronger connection from the main living areas to the backyard, where landscaping extends the home’s living space outward.
Material selections strike a careful balance—crisp, clean finishes reflect the owners’ modern sensibilities, while details and proportions remain sympathetic to the bungalow’s original charm. The result is a home that honors its past while being fully prepared for contemporary living. The work was completed while Mark Ward was a founding principal at Urbanadd.
