In 2023, Upward Architecture, along with OAC Services, SAZAN Engineers, and Wilcox Construction, helped Pike Brewing relocate their brewing, canning and distribution facility to Georgetown, just south of downtown Seattle, WA. Pike Brewing’s production facility had been located in the bowels of Pike Place Market since the company’s founding, but they’d substantially outgrown that space’s capacity.
The new facility boasts a new 30 BBL brewhouse from Konig Brewing Systems, 22 new and relocated tanks over a newly-poured sloped-to-drain concrete floor, a canning line relocated from the Pike Place Market facility, a new 80hp boiler/steamplant, and an exterior Meridian grain silo with automated grain and distribution systems. The project also included process wastewater treatment, designed by Arizona-based Brewery Wastewater Design.
”I had the opportunity to work with Upward Architecture on a highly complex and fast-moving project that came with no shortage of challenges — from unexpected consultant staffing changes and jurisdictional hurdles to an extremely constrained budget and intricate MEP coordination.
From day one, Mark and his team dove in with a collaborative spirit and a problem-solving mindset.
Mark brings deep experience across many project types, and his adaptability and leadership make him exactly the person you want in your corner when things get tough. He’s not only a skilled architect, but also a genuine pleasure to work with.
