StarView Plaza is a new ground-up, 1.9 acre, multi-tenant retail development designed to bring fresh commercial energy to Sumner’s growing community. Located just off WA 167, the project reimagines an undeveloped site into a vibrant retail destination, blending contemporary architectural character with a welcoming pedestrian scale. The design provides flexible storefronts for a range of businesses, including the project’s anchor tenant, Chuck’s Donuts, while creating opportunities for future local and regional tenants.

Upward Architecture led the design from concept through permitting, focusing on a clean & modern material palette of masonry, glass, and metal accents to give the buildings a timeless yet approachable character. Large windows provide abundant natural light to tenant spaces and establish strong visual connections between indoor activity and the public realm. Outdoor spaces are thoughtfully integrated, including a landscaped pedestrian promenade that links parking to building entrances, with seating, planters, and trellises to encourage visitors to linger.

The site layout prioritizes accessibility and convenience, with clear vehicular circulation, ample parking, and dedicated electric vehicle charging stations. Landscape design by Nakano Associates softens the hardscape with native and adaptive plantings, enhancing seasonal interest while supporting stormwater management goals. Energy-efficient lighting and building systems contribute to reduced operational costs and a smaller environmental footprint. By combining flexible commercial space with high-quality site amenities, the project aims to foster long-term tenant success and provide a welcoming hub for the surrounding neighborhood.
